“THE AWARENESS CAMPAIGN ON CYBER FRAUDS”
The Sheila Raheja School of Business Management and Research (SRBS) conducted awareness session on“The Awareness Campaign on Cyber Frauds” on 21st June 2023.Sheila Raheja School of Business Management and Research, Sheila Raheja Institute of Hotel Management and L S Raheja School of Architecture have collectively participated in the session.The event was organized in association with Rotary Club of Bombay West &Mumbai Police- Cyber Crime.
With smart phones, social media, and digital transactions are part of our daily lives. There is an increase in online frauds such as; those on matrimonial websites,online dating websites, credit/debit card fraud through social engineering, onlinePonzi schemes, phishing, blackmail, etc. The aim of the program was to educate the students about the dangers or internet and cyber-crimes. The topics covered in the awareness campaign on Cyber frauds are: fake profile, search engine edit fraud, sextortion fraud, investment fraud, electricity bill fraud, cyber bullying, online grooming, defamation, online games and internet safety.
The sessionwas very informative and insightful, as the participants reported that they gained an understanding on how to use social media platforms safely and responsibly as well as to keep their personal data safe from cyber-crimes. The students were also educated on how to use Cyber Cell when in a crisis situation.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Dr. Balsing Rajput, enriched our students and staff members with his words of wisdom.Around 150 participants participated in the same.Mr. Dharmendra Sharma – President Rotary Club, Mr. ShyamWadhwani – Hon.President Bombay Suburban Art & Craft Education Society, Mr. ArvindTiwari–Hon. Gen. Secretary Bombay Suburban Art & Craft Education Society, Dr.Harish KumarS. Purohit – Director, Sheila Raheja School of BusinessManagement shared the dais along with the Key Note Speaker Dr.Balsing Rajput,DCP Crime Detection, Crime Branch, Mumbai.
Dr. GirishPawar has coordinated the event successfully; Dr. SamadhanKhamkar, Asst. Prof. JagrutiGijare, Asst. Prof. SonaliShiralkar, Asst. Prof. RoshalChinnuVinu, Asst. Prof. Pradeep Singh with team of teaching and non-teaching staff members have contributed for the success of the event. Our second year BMS student Ms. Samara Almeida have enriched the session with wonderful anchoring and by proposing Vote of Thanks. Active participation of all the participant have made this event successful.
