National Service Scheme (NSS) is a community programme with an objective of building social consciousness in students. It provides them an opportunity as volunteers to venture out of their comfort zones and be a harbinger of societal change. Our promoters have encouraged NSS Committee to sow the seeds of change amongst the most influential group of society – our students. The Committee is responsible for a gamut of events and activities undertaken by volunteers, who have, in turn, channelized their creativity and spirit of volunteerism to give new meaning to life. The Committee strives to sensitize students on various issues through discussion, debate, talks, seminars, webinars, awareness campaigns, street theatre and confluences. SRBS encourages students to expand horizons and participate in fun-filled days, which include cultural performances, competition, food and shopping. The NSS Committee of our College, through knowledge transfer and community mobilization works toward sustainable rural development.

REPORT ON NO TOBACCO OATH CEREMONY
The Objective No Tobacco Oath Ceremony was to make Students aware and educate them about the harmful effects of tobacco on health and diseases like tooth decay, cancer, cardiovascular disease, staining of teeth, etc. One short film was shown based on the central theme of tobacco ill effects and tobacco cessation, and after that all the Teaching & Non- Teaching staff, and Students took oath which was administered by Dr. Vijay Wagh, Director, SRBS in Seminar Hall.
“YUVA MAHITI DOOT”
The purpose of this initiative is to increase volunteerism among youths and to disseminate information about various Government schemes directly to the prospective beneficiaries through the students at graduate and postgraduate level in different streams in colleges all over Maharashtra. In that regard only Mr. Bhaskar Deshmukh addressed students of BMS and MMS of SRBS about various welfare decisions, policies, campaigns and schemes being carried out by the Government from time to time. Even he explained the process of registration of Yuva Mahit Doot so that students can register himself/herself to work voluntarily as Mahiti Doot.
GUEST LECTURE ON “DISASTER MANAGEMENT”
A Guest Lecture on “Disaster Management “addressed by Mr. Chandrakant Tambe a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officer, Ward-Kherwadi, Bandra was invited as the guest. He highlighted the problems on water wastage, problems of waste disposal and cleaning of storm water drains. He has given a detailed presentation on the work undertaken by the Corporation and interacted with the audience on issues that need to be addressed on priority to keep the city clean. After interaction with Mr. Chandrakant Tambe, Institute has decided to do a collaboration with BMC in organizing cleanliness campaign in nearby areas of the Institute. All faculty members, students and staff appreciated service of BMC employees.
Fit India Program
The objective of Fit India Program was to encourage students to include physical activity and sports in their everyday lives. Students participated in various activities like Walkathon, Carom and Table Tennis to promote Fit India Movement. At the end all the Teaching & Non- Teaching staff, and Students took Fit India pledge.
Tree Plantation
Students from BMS, BA (MMC) and MMS took part and planted saplings in Shelampada Village, Taluka Mokhada and District-Palghar. Almost 520 saplings planted by students with the help of the villagers. Students planted various types of plants, details are as below;
Swachhata Abhiyan
Cleanliness drive was organised to enhance awareness among students on the importance of cleanliness and to keep the surrounding clean and beautiful. In this drive, around NSS volunteers participated from BMS, BA (MMC) and MMS
15oth Gandhi Jayanti Celebration
150th Birth Anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi was organized a wide array of events namely “Swachhata Abhiyan”, “No Use of Single Use Plastics”, “Essay writing, Banners and cards making on thoughts of Gandhi”, etc., from 27th Sepetember-2nd October 2019. The campaign was aimed to encourage the students to follow the path of cleanliness as was envisaged by the Father of the nation.
Pulse Polio Immunization
BMS and BA (MMC) participated in 6 days long Pulse Polio Immunization campaign under the aegis of National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit, from 15th September 2019 to 20th September 2019 at Bandra Terminus railway station and Market area of Bandra.
Oral polio doses were administered to 480 children under the age of five years. Dr. Tejas Shaha and their team from the Keherwadi BMC hospital spearheaded the campaign. They appreciated the contribution of the institute towards the social cause.
Voting Awareness Rally
Awareness rally was arranged to spread awareness among the residents of Kherwadi, Bandra on the importance and rights of VOTING. NSS volunteers asked citizens to vote in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections. Students participated in the rally by raising slogans on the rights and importance of casting an individual vote for selecting their representatives.
Education Day -birth Anniversary Of Sardar Vallabhai Patel
SRBS celebrated birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel on 31st October, 2019 who integrated 562 princely states with the Union of India and prevented the Balkanization of the newly-independent country. It made India a secular and united country with diversified cultures and the significances in their own kind. In line with the celebrations countrywide, NSS unit organized different activities started with the pledge of unity followed by Quiz competition.
Birth Anniversary Of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad
SRBS celebrated birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad on 11th November, 2019 who believed that education is for one and all. He was responsible for setting up of apex bodies such as AICTE and UGC. IITs, IISc and School of Architecture and Planning were also his brainchild. Azad was also instrumental in the promotion of culture and literature through education. Most of the cultural and literary academies we see today, such as Lalit Kala Academy, Sahitya Academy etc. was established by him. During this celebration, students from the MMS, BA (MMC) & BMS were participated in different activities like “Poster Making”, “Quiz Competition” and” Elocution” organized by NSS unit.
Death Anniversary Of Mahatma Jotiba Phule
SRBS observed death anniversary of Mahatma Jotiba Phule on 28th November, 2019 to pay tribute to social 89 reformer who played pioneer roll in spreading education especially among women. NSS unit organized different activities like “Poster Making”, “Quiz Competition” and” Elocution” to know more about Mahatma Jotiba Phule. In this program students from the MMS, BA (MMC) & BMS participated in different activities and pay tribute to Mahatma Jotiba Phule.
Death Anniversary Of Dr. B.r. Ambedkar
Instiute observed death anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on 6th December, 2019 to pay tribute to chief architect of Indian constitution who fought against discrimination and worked for the basic rights of the people. NSS unit organized different activities like “Book summary”, “Exhibition of books” and” Elocution” to know more about Dr.B.R. Ambedkar. In this program students from the MMS, BA (MMC) & BMS participated in different activities and pay tribute to Dr.B.R.Ambedkar.
Celebration Of Constitution Day
National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of SRBS celebrated 70th Anniversary of Indian Constitution on 26th November, 2019 to aware students on Constitution and the importance of being a Sovereign, Socialist, Secular, Democratic and Republic country. Even students watched live telecast of the parliament session on Constitution. Institute organised a wide array of events namely “Poster making”, “Pledge on Fundamental duties” and”Rally”. The Rally was aimed to spread awareness about Constitution among residents of nearby area of Institute. In this program, 137 volunteers participated from the MMS, BA (MMC) & BMS.
Maha Walkathon
As per the directions from Government of Maharashtra (MMVD & PWD), CSR Diary & CASI Global, SRBS conducted Maha Walkathon on 30th November 2019 at 8.00 A.M. In this Maha Walkathon 194 students from MMS, BA (MMC) & BMS participated along with 12 teaching & non-teaching staff. The Maha Walkathon was organized for the awareness on ‘Road safety, Responsible driving and No honking’. All they walked total 05 km distance from the College campus to Gurunank Hospital via MIG cricket club.
Report On Blood Donation Camp
Sheila Raheja School of Business Management & Research in collaboration with Tata Memorial Hospital organized “Blood Donation Camp” on January 10, 2018. The Camp was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Vijay Wagh, Director, SRBS. MMS students actively participated in the event & successfully managed to collect 92 units of blood with an objective of helping the needy. The camp received overwhelming number of response with volunteers from the college & assisted by some authorities from the above mentioned hospital.
