Introduction:

Hindi BhashaDiwas, or Hindi Day, is a yearly event in India that strives to acknowledge and encourage the Hindi language. It is observed on September 14th each year to honor the adoption of Hindi as one of India’s official languages. This celebration plays a crucial role in preserving India’s cultural and linguistic diversity, promoting national unity, and fostering the growth of Hindi literature and communication.

Historical Significance:

On September 14, 1949, the Indian Constitution was adopted, and Hindi was designated as one of the country’s official languages. The decision aimed to unite the diverse linguistic communities in India and create a common language for communication and administration. In honor of this momentous occasion in Indian history, Hindi BhashaDiwas is celebrated to underscore the importance of Hindi in the country’s culture and identity.

Objectives of celebrating Hindi BhashaDiwas:-

  1. To make students understand the role of Hindi in Indian culture, its influence on other languages, and its importance in daily life.
  2. To make students understand Hindi literature.
  3. Toencourage students to bilingualism by appreciating the importance of knowing more than one language.
  4. To raise awareness among students for the preservation and promotion of Hindi as a language.

Outcomes of the event to students:

At SRBS Institute, cultural programs were organized by students to honor Hindi BhashaDiwas. The events consisted of recitals of Hindi poetry, storytelling sessions, traditional music and dance performances, and plays in Hindi. The students utilized the occasion to commence studying the language and pledged to hone their Hindi speaking and writing skills. It is noteworthy that commemorating Hindi BhashaDiwas does not entail favoring one language over others, but rather acknowledging the cultural and historical importance of Hindi in India. This day provides an opportunity to celebrate linguistic diversity and encourage the coexistence of multiple languages in a multicultural nation i.e. India.
