It was a red letter day in the history of India when the country got her freedom on August 15, 1947. It took hundreds of years for us to break shackles of slavery. People of the country celebrate this festival every year with great pomp and show. The main Program is celebrated at the Red Fort in New Delhi. Besides, this festival is also celebrated in every city and town, in schools, colleges and universities.
Our college also celebrates this festival every year. For this year, we had made all the preparations like decorations and cultural events. This year SRBS institute celebrated Independence Day with great joy as its 76th Independence. All the faculties and students from three colleges gather in ground downstairs. First of all, the national flag was hosted by the directors of all 3 colleges (LSR, SRBS, and SRIHM) from Sheila Raheja foundation .Then students of our college marched out in a procession through the college premises with a band playing the National Song (Vande Matram).
After that a beautiful song (Mere Desh ki dharti sona Ugle) sung by the students of SRBS which was followed by a speech full of patriotism feeling message given by Dr.Mandar Parab. They encouraged us with great stories of Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and many more national heroes who sacrificed lives for us to get freedom from Britishers after a long struggle of 100 years.Then some senior faculties delivered speeches on the occasion. All the speakers spoke about the significance of the historic day. They advised the students to become ideal citizens of the country.
Then there was a beautiful dance performance given by the students on Vande mataram song to make the environment more memorable. SRBS BMS Students presented a small skit on today’s life and old life of people named as “App Ka Jin”.
The function came to an end with our National Anthem and sweets distribution.
